How can icheck if meter is faulty
Options
Hi i have recently moved into a property and am with british gas for gas +elec .in my previous home i was with scottish power and paid about £10 per week. Now i am with british gas i keep getting bills asking for what would be £40 per week. I think the meters are set incorrectly and want them checked but they insist i would have to pay £100 for this. I have considered switching but if they dont change the meter i would have the same problem. I am at work all day not home till 6 in bed by 10, I just feel sure there is something wrong with the meters.
What can i do any ideas please?

Meters rarely go faulty. What is you usage in kWh? You do know that the cost of energy has risen don't you? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Are you being billed for gas and elec used or estimated?
Have you compared the kwh used in your previous property at the same time last year? Are they the same? If not, which has gone up - gas or elec? I doubt that your unit costs have gone up x4 so it is most likely to be a combination of increased use (maybe less efficient boiler, more lights/radiators etc.) and higher charges or estimated readings.0
