  • Ok, so yesterday I just paid dad my board money (only 10 days late, its a good job its my lovely daddy) and that was it.

Had a NSD the day before too. :j

Today I'm trying to distract myself from online shopping, but I have started to think about Christmas and what I need to buy presents-wise.

Got to go to work later though so hopefully wont spend anything, and for the rest of the day I will be mostly trying to find another job and maybe baking some cakes so I don't go and buy from the shop.

One day soon I will try to do an SOA or a budget, but my income is so unpredictable because it depends on the number of hours I've worked and that can change quite a bit from month to month. I will try soon though.

    Much Love

  • hi Lizzie - sounds like you're doing well! I'm having to really think about spending on Christmas pressies too. I've written a list and this year I'm going to stick to it!! (I have a lot of little ones to buy for - nephews and friends' kiddies) and it's soooo easy to spend money on the little stocking fillers, and bits-n-bobs...

I'm also trying to raise a bit of dosh and have a clear-out by selling stuff on eBay. My first attempt wasn't overly successful (I made about £30 by selling clothes and a few accessories - but they were worth more than what I sold them for) but I learnt a few lessons and I'll try again!

I need a few more NSDs too! Keep up the good work!

Christmas is really going to be an issue. I've been saving all my spare change for a while now though in various pot & money boxes and have just counted & bagged it all. I have £59 in total so I've added this to my sig & this will be my Christmas Present Money.

In other news, I had a very bad day on Friday spending-wise, all this unsuccessful job hunting was really getting me down, so I spent nearly £60 on a new outfit to wear to my friends gig that night. And I've felt so guilty about it since.

So today I am back to trying my hardest...back on the job hunting wagon, and back to spending nothing.

I hope everyone else is doing better than me, and one day soon I will definately start with the budgetting and the SOA.

    Much Love

  • Morning all :j

Haven't really been around this week as I was poorly at the start of the week so was mostly sleeping. Feeling much better now though and trying to catch up on all that lost time.

One bonus to being unwell has been that I haven't spent anything that wasn't necessary. In fact the only thing I've spent since Saturday is the £9 direct debit on paying off my credit card that came out of my account yesterday.

I'm doubly impressed because I even managed to go to the pub last night and not spend a single penny thanks to my sister and the lovely boy :D  .

Tonight I am working and tomorrow I am working a double shift. Will need to be organised tomorrow and take my lunch with me I think, perhaps just pasta since we have that at home anyway, may just pop to the shop after work tonight to pick up the sauce I like as it's the only one I can eat cold (the one's we have in are yukky cold).

Off to finish my tidying and try for a productive day today. Dishwasher is on, Washing Machine is on, Handwashing is waiting to be done, dusting and vacuuming also need some attention, and I should probably sift through the ironing pile too  You'd never guess I still live with my parents from all that would you!!

  • Today I will be mostly planning my Christmas Spends (who is having what and how much it will cost) Need to figure out how to up the payments to my credit card though, a quick glance at it earlier highlighted the fact that this month the interest was more than the minimum payment...surely that cant be right???

    Hi Lizzie

Glad you're better and thinking strategically.

If you got any q's re credit card payments, post a q on that board, someone will put you right.
  • Thanks Nomad25

To be honest I think I can figure the card thing out if I just look at it properly.I'm still only paying the minimum payments on it until I clear the HSBC one (which only has two payments left so will be gone by the end of the year :j )
But I'm almost certain that the interest this month has been 30p more than the payment. If I look properly I'm sure it can be rectified by a small payment (maybe £10 in addition to the minimum payment) In the new year I'll be adding the £50 a month I currently pay to HSBC to the credit card instead and continuing with the minimum payment direct debit. With a bit of luck it will then come down much quicker than it is at the moment.

And after that has gone away I'll just have the £1500 to pay back to my mum & grandma and that damn overdraft!!

Hopefully I can do it by the end of June so I can begin my 24th year debt free :D

It's really encouraging to see you say that, you're obviously thinkng it through and taking a very mature/MSE attitude. I imagine in the past you would have paid up without too much thought.

    I'll 2nd that - it's a good target to set for yourself.
  • I think you're right, only 5 weeks ago I probably wouldn't even have noticed it, I never used to look at the statements!!It's become an addiction now though and I'm checking my online banking daily.

Well I've had a semi productive day I suppose, will need to start tying up the things I've been doing today soon though as I'm working tonight (and every night this week except Thursday :j ) and I need to sort out my tea and find my uniform.
I do, however, have a plan of action for tomorrow (how organised is that :D )
    • Have a rummage in the loft for last years leftover Christmas cards & wrapping paper before the rest of the family get their hands on them (they have more money than I do)
    • Phone the tax office and ask them to kindly give me my money back as I have paid far too much, and also enquire about the laundry/uniform allowance thingy that my dad keeps telling me about
    • Finish the Christmas present planning list that I've started today and try not to go over the money I have saved in my change pots (see my sig)
    • Apply for every job I can find that I havent already applied for before the new listings are in the local paper on Wednesday
    • Go to work and earn more lovely pennies for watching Flashpants!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
And I think that will be enough to keep me going for the day without getting bored.

    Much Love
