in Credit cards
Hi
My mum is 65, retired and has a credit card from A&L with a balance of £15,000 on it. The interest is crippling her - can anyone give me some advice on which card is cheapest with lowest interest rate. I've had a look around the site at Amex ones but not sure if they accept retired and not working people?
Thanks all.

Everyone has a photographic memory, it's just some of them don't have film.

15,000!
Blimey.
I suggest that she goes and sees citizens advice and then approaches A&L about either converting it to a loan at a better rate or even thinking of a repayment plan or something if the repayment is totally unrealistic versus her current income.
Unlikely that anyone will accept her for a 0% or LOB card with that much debt and no significant income.
R.Smile, it makes people wonder what you have been up to.

She has enough income from pensions to "just about" cover her repayments at the moment - I think that doing a BT to another card (probably be Lloyds as she's with them) will help her significantly.
Thanks for the advice, I'll have a look around for more information.Everyone has a photographic memory, it's just some of them don't have film.0 -
as you have rightly said, bt'ing to a lower interest (0% if poss) or long term, will help her know end, especially as it will reduce what is owing on the A&L card therefore reducing the interestsmile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to....
