Brother HL-1250 laser printer-poor quality print

At work we have a Brother HL-1250 laser printer. For quite a while now it's not been printing very clearly. When you print, certain areas appear ghost like, where text is completely missing. I've tried replacing the toner but this doesn't seem to have made any difference.
Can anyone advise me on what the problem could be and how I can correct it.
Thank you.

Try a fresh ream of paper. Do not store unopened or near a window.0
