Luck of the draw with acers ~ I personally suggest you DONT buy one as they appear to be very susceptible to breaking down!

Acer are a very good product, I personally sourced and specified them as a business machine at work and they have shown no problems at all, the only thing I could say in criticism is that they seem to partition the hard-drive and format it with fat32 instead of the correct way using NTFS. Simply doing a factory restore and choosing not to partition and use NTFS instead of FAT 32 solves the issue, at the end of the day the components inside a Power F-series or Veriton are much the same as any other PC, just make sure you keep away from Celeron and AMD processors if you want any form of stability and performance choose a model with a Pentium-Class CPU. Oh and there after-sales support is excellent too, any problems just call them and they will sort everything out for you.

Like Dell you can have good and bad experiences with them. I've got an Acer laptop which has worked perfectly over the last 3 years and was super easy to upgrade the RAM in - hatch was underneath rather than below the keyboard.

If you buy just about any big brand PC you will find non standard size parts and the like so if you want to be truly standard and upgradable then you need to DIY.
In saying that simple upgrades like RAM can be done on just about any PC and given PCs are so cheap now a days it often makes more financial (not eco friendly!) to replace the whole PC rather than upgrade down the line.
  • Have had my Acer laptop a couple of years and it works fine, but recently am having problems with the wireless connection which is a real pain.

It is a TCP/IP Stack problem, search the microsoft KB for details how to fix it, I sorted this on several machines about 8 month ago but dont have my IT notes to hand as they are at work, if you dont get it sorted today I will digg them out for you tomorrow.
