Do I need to sign section 8?

When selling to a motor trader, you are supposed to sign section 9 of the V5C form. It is unclear in any documentation I have read whether you also have to sign section 8. It seems to me that I am only supposed to sign it if selling privately.

Anyone shed any light on this? It needs sorting before I go out today and the dealer doesn't open for another hour or so.

Just looking through the guidance notes for the V5C, Declarations - section 8 is for changes and selling privately. Section 9 sell or px to a motor trader, section 11 exporting. As it reads you and the trader should sign section 9.

Thanks! That's what I expected... I just wasn't sure if we had to sign both

Agree the V5C is'nt that clear, the guidance notes are a bit better and say just sign section 9 if selling or part exchanging your vehicle to a motor trader. Hope you get a good deal out of them !
