Should I return it for a acer or a Sony as these have been recommended to me? Thankyou for any advise need a laptop that will last as can't afford to replace any time soon!

Depends on what was wrong with it and what warranty you got?
This one is obviously cheaper-

But if yours is dual core you may have grabbed a bargain, looking at dabs prices.0 -
Dell is one of the most respected brands out there. If I was buying a new laptop Dell would be my first choice with Sony second. I have an Acer netbook but normally they would be well down the list for me - after IBM, Toshiba, HP etc.0

Dont buy an ACER. Theyre frequently on here with problems!:idea:0

I second that - don't buy an Acer. We had to return my DDs after a month as it failed to load, and DS has lost two keys on his.
I have a Dell and I love it (bought on offer from Dell website). Yours sounds quite expensive for a reconditioned model although 2GB is quite a lot of ram.somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0 -
Good advice would be to check how much guarantee you got with it, as i am not sure if they have to give 12 months on a used product. Personally i would just buy new, use it for a year then sell it when the guarantee is out and buy a new one. Also did they say what the fault was?Money Saving Learner since Oct.08

Girlfriend has owned an ACER laptop for over eighteen months now with no problems at all. Though hers was purchased in Asia. Maybe just the luck of the draw?0
