e-mail problems - advice please

Can someone advise me, please? A few weeks ago, we had a new computer and my husband (who is not really all that computer literate, but moreso than me!) set up e-mail accounts (we are with Virgin) for himself and me. For some reason, my e-mail messages (received) went into my account AND his account (no real problem, he just had to delete them from his inbox).
However, having complained at the beginning of this week about non-receipt of a particular e-mail (sorry, M&S!)... and then another e-mail ... and then another e-mail, I have tonight discovered that 5 e-mails that were sent to me at the end of last week went into my husband's inbox, but not my own. He automatically deleted them, thinking that I would be reading the other copy.
At around the same time (ie: end of last week) I noticed that the 'gadgets' displayed when I log on had been altered (ie: not the ones that I had set up), but just thought it was a blip, and re-set them. I have just logged on again, and they have again been altered, but my husband says that he has not altered them.
Can someone please tell me what is happening ... is someone accessing my account from another computer? If so, can I trace the guilty party?
TIA

Hello.
Its unlikely comebody is accessing your computer from elsewhere, especially to edit outlook settings.
Are you sure you both have seperate "email addresses" and you are not both using the same address but with different "user names" for the computer itself? This would result in mail being delivered to you both, and once downloaded by one and deleted, it would not be available for the other user, e.g. yourself.
If you both definitely have seperate email addresses, e.g. joe.bloggs@virgin.net and ann.bloggs@virgin.net then you may find that virgin has set a catch all email address to send mail to all accounts.
You need to make sure that you both use seperate logons to the computer, or at least, seperate profiles in outlook/outlook express for this to work properly. Virgin media has guides on their website if you get stuck!0 -
Hi Flashy - thanks for the quick response.
As far as I am aware (but I will check with hubby tomorrow) we both have separate addresses (me)@blueyonder.co.uk and (hubby)@blueyonder.co.uk AND we have separate log ons/passwords. What is really throwing me is that we were OK to start with (and if hubby deleted his copy of my e-mails, then mine still stayed with me until deleted on my account) and now this happens at the same time as the 'gadgets' display rearranging itself.

It's much better that you don't use your isp email, set up an independent e.g.googlemail account.
Then no chance of mix ups.
My VM email is ONE address but you can apply (I think) 5 aliases, so your addresses might be different on the surface but underneath they are the same.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
I agree with spud
use GOOGLEMAIL (Make it a STRONG password):idea:0 -
Thanks spud17 and aliEnRIK - think spud might have hit it on the head (ie: ONE address, several aliases); I have now 're-booted' my previous account with AOL.
Thanks to everyone for responding.
