Hi.
I have just reformatedmy PC and upgrade from Vista to XP.
Before reformating I backed up all my files to an external HDD. I would now like to move my olf iTunes library (keeping ratings, playlists etc) onto the PC but am unable to do this.
I can replace the iTunes music folder with my old one but this results in iTunes adding the songs to my library as if they were new (without ratings etc). I have tried replacing the 'iTunes Library file' but my old library does not display when I open iTunes.
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Close Itunes completely
Click the Itunes icon while holding down the shift key (and keep holding it down)
A box will appear asking you if you want to create a new library or where your old one is.
When that appears you can browse to the iTunes Library.itl in your old itunes folder and then you should see all your old music in Itunes with its data intact.0
