Hello Techies,

A friend just called me tonight that he has done something to his laptop and when he switches it on,it keeps saying boot manager missing.

Could someone help out on what he should do to restore this laptop.

Thanks in advance.

    hi there.

If its windows xp, you can insert the windows XP cd, and when it asks you, repair using recovery console.

And then you can type in the command:

    "fixboot"
    or
    "fixmbr"
  • Thanks a lot Flashy. The previous OS was vista ultimate. Is it ok to install XP on it?

in that case, you need to use the vista disk and the repair option :)

This will get you up and running.
