    pancho villa,

I know your claim via Tesco credit card got declined initially as you attended. What happened next? Have you had any more dealings with them?

JH808 is asking on our other thread about Tesco credit card so if anyone has any updates from them, it would be useful.....

If you haven't chargedback yet, or if your chargeback was turned down, see the latest Lapland New Forest Refund Guide:

Hi, have just phoned them up again as had not heard anything, and they said I should get a letter next week!!

Will tell you what it says when I get it.
  • Hi
Paid £100 for 4 tickets for 21st December on Natwest Visa, Sent Natwest a section 75 letter on 15th December, chased them up 13th January and they confirmed they were processing my claim, finally rang again today and as lines were busy they gave me the number to ring and check how the claim was going (01702370034) spoke to someone who apologized for the delay, checked if they had all the information they needed and processed a refund there & then.

Good, I'm glad that we're getting some success stories. Just goes to prove it's well worth chasing this up if you've heard nothing. Thanks for the updates.

Had yet another letter from Lloyds after disputing why they wouldn't refund. This time I had to, again, send all the info i had (emails, letters e.t.c.).

Just checked my Lloyds Mastercard account and what should I see?........£200 credited this morning!!!!!

Only took 3 attempts but got there in the end - When I have a chance I will scan in a copy of the letters I received

Thanks for all the advice guys

Fab result dazzercx, and copies of the letters would be interesting (don't forget to remove all personal details).

Does anyone know if Grant Thornton have sent their letters out yet? I'm still keen to see what they actually write....I wonder if they will exclude those people who have had their refunds?

Oops I missed this yesterday. Very well done to the Bournemouth Echo for still reporting on this.

    http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/newforest/4077260.Winners_and_losers_in_Lapland_New_Forest_payback/

"The Echo was told by one source that Lloyds TSB was treating each £30 ticket as an individual purchase so the £100 level was not breached.
A spokesman for the company (I presume 'company' here means Lloyds TSB)said since the directors’ decision to liquidate Lapland it had decided to pay people back in full. "

Barclays aren't appearing too helpful from the article if you actually attended. However, you can still argue your case with the Ombudsman if you feel strongly enough that you didn't get what you paid for.

For those of you who are not regular readers of accountancyage (the majority I should think!), here's another update:

    http://www.accountancyage.com/accountancyage/news/2235226/grant-thornton-assists

I won't pick too many salient points out at this moment. Perhaps Edna or anyone else more 'in the know' than me could review it. The wording is interesting. They are asking for ticket holders to contact Grant Thornton via post prior to the creditor's meeting. What are the implications of that, and how are ticketholders going to know to do that unless they read the article? Edna?

You can still try for a chargeback, despite the doom and gloom of the article.

It says in the article "All potential creditors have been urged to make their claims in writing to Grant Thornton UK, LLP, 1, Dorset Street, Southampton, SO15 2DP. " Edna previously raised concerns that if you do this as a tickholder who has paid by card, it may mean you are treated as a creditor, and this may affect your ability to do a chargeback. I don't know the answer on this. You will need to try to get advice. I don't know who the regulatory body for Grant Thornton is, but you may be able to get advice from them.

Personally, I think this is being handled wrongly.

    From today's Sun:

    http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article2185684.ece

"Officials said 42,000 people bought advance tickets, generating £1MILLION in sales. But insiders last night admitted chances were slim of any money being returned. "

I would point out here that £1,000,000 divided by 42000 = £24. This appears to be the average price of tickets. Obviously a single family is buying more than one ticket. So we can't tell from the quoted figures how many tickets were purchased by an 'average' ticketholder, ie what the 'average' transaction amount was. I really, really hope all cardpayers claim their refund. It is a lot of money.

And this is Kevin Hellard (I think anyway, as newspaper says Kevin Helland)

(You still need to contact your bank to do a chargeback if you paid by card.)
