Gomer,
You will have to have official permission to have a link in your signature - see the forum rules. You may need to contact the moderators to check.

Oh - okay - I didn't realise that.
I'll keep it for the time being as it's not exactly controversial being just a link to another page here. It saves losing the link with more posts.
I'll do it a bit later. I generally assume if a forum lets me do something. I've got permission, but anyway I'll not rock the boat.0 -

I think it shouldn't.

Looks like it would be best to email 'abuse' as I can't find how you would request permission otherwise, and 'abuse' is who the approved people need to contact if they have problems.
Admin may remove the link if it's not approved - you see this sometimes on people's siggies.
Maybe also pm Edinburghlass (with capital E) who is one of the Boardguides. May be sympathetic as I think she said on the thread that she bought tickets to Lapland.

Okay - I've pm'd Edingburghlass and asked for guidance.0

I've spoken to my bank - First Direct - who advised that as I had paid by Visa but the tickets were less than £100 each I should write to their Disputes Dept asking for a refund under the Chargeback scheme citing breach of contract as LNF are unable to provide the service paid for.
Apparently the credit will go onto the CC straight away but the other party has 60 days to dispute the chargeback - an event which she thought would be unlikely giventhe circumstances !
The nice lady also said that I need not persue a claim with the 'supplier' as I would "not feel justified to complain directly to the retailer given the recent publicity".
Hope this helps somebody.
PS - Thanks to all for the advice etc on this thread !!

Gomer,
Some questions ref the latest refund procedure (separate thread):
1. If a letter is sent and cert of posting obtained, do you need to allow time for the letter to be received and potentially replied to before submitting the chargeback?
2. Ref the post above (post 818 on our thread) - is there anything in chargeback procedures/guidelines that supports the comment that there would be no need to contact the supplier given the bad publicity?
3. There were some reports earlier on in the thread about people being asked to sign indemnities before the refund is given. Could this potentially happen? Do we need to cover this in the guide?
4. Could the guide also confirm some reasonable timeframes. We talk about submitting the chargeback, but then what? When would you expect to hear from the bank? When/how to chase? (Still possibly worth putting in, even if we don't know the timescales yet).
This is part of post 926 caz1974:
So I called my bank using say no to 0870 web site (so call was free) so got straight through to complaints. Explained to them I wanted to use the CHARGE BACK dispute that visa have.
They transferred me to visa who took the details, sent me out a claim form, which I then posted back, within 7 days I had £100 back in my bank.
Very painless took about 2 weeks from start to finish.
and post 930 charpa:
Have been reading this forum for advice after spending £100 on tickets using my visa debit card. My bank, Abbey, were very helpful, spoke to Visa disputes, had to sign a simple slip they sent me and had the money credited back to my account all within 10 days.
Good luck to everyone else claiming refunds and thank you all for your advice.
post 960 OldSutt:
Just got refund approved with Nationwide (£90) through Visa Debit Chargeback. The letter included the paragraph:
"As the operation was closed down following a lot of media attention and complaints from the public the opposing bank has no real grounds to contest this chargeback so you can consider my investigation successful and closed within 45 days." Again, so no need to wait for a response to the letter to Lapland NF?
This 45 day thing is the time Nationwide allow itself to obtain paperwork from the merchant to prove that the service was provided.
I did have to photocopy the tickets, and it took about a month.
post 962 tmm2304:
I was told I would need to wait about 3 months to get a response from Halifax.
5. post 921 alec162 reported that "LLoyds appear to have had new instructions to pepole in my position. They are now being told to send out declarations to be signed for 'services not received' With this declaration you need put as much supporting evidence as possible, confirmation emails, copies of tickets, reports of closure". Should we include advice about what to do if one of these is received? Similar to indemnities?

No links in signatures unless Forum Team or BG's I'm afraid as per the rule here...
SIGNATURE LINKS
The only links permitted in signatures are those of the MSE team, the Forum team, Board Guides and links to charity (ie they are on the Charities Commission Register of Charities). This includes un-activated links. If in doubt, contact abuse@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Edinburghlass,
Is there any chance of getting Gomer's post into this week's MSE email? I can't see any way of requesting this officially.
This is the post, which is our (this thread's) latest guidelines on obtaining refund for Lapland NF: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...1#post17633351
update: the request was too late for this week's email as it has already started sending.

And all the successful chargebacks presumably still tally against the Lapland New Forest company, do they, at all stages? Or is the supporting documentation merely for the banks to ensure that customers don't get refunded more than once?
To the first comment, yes, all this will be recorded any requested by the liquidator. The supporting evidence will probably serve two purposes, the one you suggest and also evidence to be passed to the liquidator, and in my experience the liquidator will go through those records with a fine toothed comb to ensure people are refunded or treated as a creditor correctly. In any case the liquidator will be working *very* closely with the bank, and if possible the company director(s) to get full and accurate records, though whether these will be forthcoming from the self admitted semi literate in the latter case is highly questionble.

Edna,
You know you have to tell me things about three times before I truly get it....well, if someone does a chargeback now, and it gets turned down, does that get potentially/definitely looked at by the liquidator?
Or is just successful chargebacks?
Or just claims that go via the liquidator?
I know you've probably answered this already but I do get confused.
