E.on & IGT charge
Options
We have been living in this house for just over 1 year. It was built late 2006 early 2007. Just received an 'amended' gas bill from last august. The bill now covers the period from April through to October. However, there is one noteable addition that we haven't seen on previous bills....and IGT charge.
I understand its for Independent gas transport (and can't be got around), but why didn't this appear on previous bills? Seems a bit odd to me. Can anyone help explain this to me.
Thanks

Mmmm. have they billed you on the same tariff as they did last time?
Some E.ON tariffs have an IGT charge, others don't. It's possible that you've been billed on a different tariff.
It's something i can't really answer without having a look at your individual account, but definitely query it.
What's the reason for recieving the amended bill?0 -
The last bill was dates around 9th August. Between April and August we moved from one tarrif to the fixed / capped until October 2009 one. The bill we received reflected this. Early October I checked our meters, and reported the numbers. Then we receive this gas bill dated mid October cancelling the gas charges from the August bill and recalculating them with the IGT charge.
I know nno more than that.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

If you were on Eons Energy Guarantee product that does not charge any IGT sum. The capped products do pass on the IGT charge.0

Then that might make sense. When I changed from one tarrif to the other I went from non-capped to capped....from non chargeable igt to chargeable.
I get it now. thanksBaby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

I was tempted to call, but thought the best place to clarify things in my own mind is here. If the charge is justified then I should pay it. from what I understand it is justified so I won't waste their time and mine by calling.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

If you live in a property where an igt installed the gas supply that property will always be charged the fee. Some suppliers (or tariffs) don't charge this fee. If you were on the Eon energy guarantee product the charge isn't due because the tariff matches BG rates and BG don't charge the IGT fee. If you then moved away from the Guarantee product to a fixed/capped rate then you do get charged the £42pa.0
