Giant Gingerbread Man

A couple of years ago I made a gingerbread house for my nephew and wanted to do it again this year until my Mum and Dad suggested it had a few too many sweets on it for him! Anyway they suggested making a gingerbread man the same size as him instead for him and his younger brother!
My question is any ideas on how I could do this?

The best way that I would do it is to draw the ginger bread man shape on to some grease proof paper and cute it out. Then roll out your ginger bread and lay the template on top and keep in place with some tooth picks. Use a knife to cut around the template and then you should have your gian ginger bread man. Pop it in the oven and bob's your uncle. HTH XXX0

Hi Shevs,
thanks for the reply but I forgot to say he's about 4' tall! So know I'm going to have to do it in bits but don't know the best way of putting all the bits together.

If you can't fit the full-sized 'man' in your oven, how about making a gingerbread jigsaw? Make a head, torso, legs and arms so they can have fun assembling him on the table before tucking in?!If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got.

Wow Ephemera loving that idea! I knew I'd get some good brains on here! That's brilliant and much easier for transportation as well (got to take him to scotland! ) They could then decorate him too when they've assembled him! That's brill! Just need to find a recipe now and work out templates and quantities.

I would agree with Ephemera. just do it all in sections, that is a big ginger bread man!! They can use icing to stick all the bits together and decorate around the edges. Sounds like a lovely idea, they'll have great fun making it x0

I can't wait to see their faces when they see it! They both love gingerbread men and I'm sure they'll think it is fantastic! Can't wait to have a go now but not seeing them until Christmas Eve.0

You could do it in pieces and put a hole in each to join it together with red ribbon after cooking. would look pretty and they could have fun undoing the ribbon when they want to eat a part!!0

this reminds me of all the funny student things on that pimpmysnack.com which is all about making giant versions of familiar classics. You might even find one on there for a gingerbread man!
Found this link for you: http://www.pimpthatsnack.com/project.php?projectID=195&pageID=1
purely for fun, I am not suggesting you make a gangsta man!0 -
Thanks katiecoodle,
I had vaguely remembered that site but couldn't think what it was! It's very funny!0
