I got a data cable and software for a Siemens A65 phone. When I load the software and plug it all in, it's looking at the COM port and doesn't recognise the USB at all (depsite the box saying it is a "USB cable")
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as I'm currently trying to get an MP3 ringtone of the Baarmy Lakeland Sheep onto a polyphonic ringtone phone :wall: (Have a hunch it can be converted to a WAV and downloaded.)

When you plug the usb cable into the computer, does it recognise a device being plugged in? It should make a sound an a little icon apprear in the area next to the clock.0

Nope - nothing happens when it's plugged in.........0

Do you have any other USB devices? Can you see if it does something (makes sound or bring up an icon in system tray) when you connect one of them?0

When I plug the camera in, it comes up with a window to view the pictures.
Yes, I'm using XP.
I'll have a look at the drivers download thing (although hubby has now gone to work and I'm the less technically minded one  )0 -
Tried downloading the new driver, and it just doesn't pick up the fact that it's plugged into the USB port.
I'm guessing that means the cable is a dud?!?0
