Comparison Sites
After my recent Atlantic Elec & Gas price increase (for gas only) I am considering switching.
The comparison sites indicate that I will save £98 per year if I switch to npower.
I assume they assess this based on the increased Atlantic prices, as strictly speaking they have been in force since August.
BUT - with Atlantic I get an annual 'loyalty' rebate. Last time this was £107.50.
Do the comparison sites know about these discounts and take them into account in their calculations?
If not, it is obviously pointless for me to switch
Anybody know??

From what i've read in the small print of the comparison sites (that i've looked at) - they include any discounts you'd get for duel fuel etc.
It usually gives you a link to the assumptions they've made about your existing tariff and what discounts, etc. they think you are getting.
However they don't include things like the Gas getting carried over an IGT (none transco).
This can mean the price is out by a good £30 to £40 depending on the supplier you go with if you are an average user.
The only real way to know exactly what the difference is would be to do the maths yourself (i won't pretend i ever have )

The comparison sites give a ball park figure, and then, as stated above, it is pencil and paper + calculator.
For instance do you use all your Tier 1 gas units in Summer? The comparison site has to assume everyone uses the full annual allocation. However many people might only use 75% of their tier 1 allocation(unless you are a sculpted NPower victim! - Don't Ask!!)0 -
Although they include discounts they tend to just quote for one year so the thirteenth month would probably not be included.0
