Hi Guys need your help please,
I subscribed to Sky in August-08, but due to change in financial circumstances, i had to terminate the contract, which i gave the notice to terminate it with in the first month- i believe we can do this with in the first month without any charge. Initially i contacted them by phone which they agreed that i am cancelling it with in the first month, kept an entry in my account that i gave the notice to terminate. But advised to write to them which i did. After more than 2wks wait they wrote to me:

Thank you for your email regarding cancellation of your Sky account.
Firstly, please accept my sincere apologies on behalf of Sky Television for any misinformation received and for the length of time it has taken us to answer your query.
The terms and conditions of your digital subscription contract require a minimum subscription period of twelve months, at which time, cancellation will be accepted with one month’s notice.
Under the terms of the free minidish and digibox offer if you cancel your subscription before the minimum period expires, you can be charged the cost of providing your digital satellite system of up to 80.00 (GBP). Also, under the terms of the installation offer you took up you can be charged the difference between what you paid for standard installation of your digital satellite system and our full standard installation charge of 120.00 (GBP).
Our records show that there is a remaining of 10 months until the end of the minimum term. Should you still wish to cancel your digital subscription account at this time, please contact us again and we will process your request.
Please help me how to go about this, i want to cancel sky.
thanks.
thanks.

How long were you installed before you cancelled? With a number of sky products you only get an 8 day cooling off period.0

I gave notice to cancel with in 30 daysafter installation, as it is stated in terms&conditions. Even when i spoke over the phone with sky they accepted my notice but when i wrote to them they sent me the above message.0

I think the cancellation you are talking about is just for the monthly subscription. You will still have to pay for the Box and dish and installation as they are only free with the 12 months subscription and having your box hooked up to your phone line so I think you will have to pay full price for them.
If they didnt charge then everybody would just try and do what you did to get a free dish and box.0 -

I dont want their dish or the box, they can take everything if they cancel without charging me. I just cant afford it.0 -

looks like it may be cheaper just keeping the minimum £17/month (around £4/week) package. Sky incurred costs installing the system, their T+Cs seem to allow them to recoup that money.Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0
