Sofa Headache

I bought a leather sofa in September 2007, it was paid in cash for just under £600. It is a corner unit, cream coloured, leather suite which has only ever been washed professionally. Just after my 1years guarantee was up I noticed that half of the sofa is a complete different colour to the other half.
I contacted the store's company via their website and was told i'd have to contact the store I purchased from, so I went in and the manager told me there was nothing he could do because i was 3 weeks beyond my guarantee.
I then emailed the company back to tell them I wasn't happy, a sofa should have a lifespan of over a year, in my opinion, and I quoted the sale of goods act. I was told that my details would be passed on to the area manager and he'd be in touch. I received a letter from him this morning stating that I was unfortunate to not have noticed the colour difference before my years guarantee and there's nothing the company can do.
I honestly don't know why we never noticed, all I can say is it was due to the lighting I used...we used a little lamp in the sitting room up until I bought energy saving bulbs for my ceiling fan light. The energy saving bulbs lit the room more and that's when we noticed the change.
The colour change continues all over the suite, it's in two halves, right under the cushions, the rear and base of the suite....to me it's two different sofa's attached to each other.
Sorry for such a long winded first post lol but i'm at my wits end.

You need to inspect the sofa in daytime - sunlight, the only way, you may be causing shadows to appear or coloured reflections from walls.
No hides are perfect and the colour is painted on. There will be differences and down to the matching of hides picked at the factory, I paid 5X that and mines wearing out.0 -
it sounds like half of the suite seems to get a lot of sunlight and the other dosent.....if it bothers you that much cant you claim on your insurance..
Im not sure about the garuntee side of things but go to CAB with it they might be able to help if not then Watchdog (x-ray if in wales)THE SHABBY SHABBY FOUNDER0 -

yeah I understand that completely but the difference is very noticeable....the sofa is in 2 parts and one part has gone a greeny colour all except one strip down the centre of a cushion which has remained the 'proper' colour. It's evident day or night now and seems to be getting worse. When you strip the sofa of it's cushions the 2 bases are also 2 complete different colours
Same with the rear of the bases which have been against a wall ever since we bought it. 0 -

It's definately not sun damaged as i've said the dis coloured half of the sofa is the same when stripped bare and the rear too. I rent my home and don't have insurance to claim from
The CAB will be my next port of call I think. 0 -
It could of course be that part of the sofa is " leather match " which is not really leather at all, many suppliers are using it now, it will never properly be the same as the real leather part.
It is easy to spot if you look closely, the grain is different.;)0 -
