    Cheques are useful in certain situations...

    I personally use them for paying large ad-hoc bills.

    Also payments to organisations i don't trust with card details, or a Direct Debit mandate. BACS, and now Faster Payments are starting to displace these.

    I recall the limit changed from £500 to 1k for checking signatures.

    Well, if personal customers insist on whinging about how long payments take and the ways we make our profits, then yes, stuff them.
