The Best Sources of Information on Investments are....?

Hi all,
I had some investments, but have no idea what they are worth anymore! Some people say now is a good time to invest! Well that may be true, but everyone has different circumstances. I expect it depends on your age, and your situation in general.
I was wondering what your favourite websites are, and could you recommend them for finding out information on investment funds, I had a look around and there are lots, so I was wondering which ones you prefer.
There seem to be magazine and newspaper's own sites as well as sites from financial advisers, financial management companies and independent industry sites! I expect some may be better for funds, like unit trusts and investment trusts, and some better for stocks and shares. In which case could you mention this please, if you reply, so that other people will know.
I know there are portfolio gadgets on most websites too, although I'm not sure how much information they can provide or how easy there are to work. I expect some are better than others, and would like comments on that aspect of websites too.
It may be that one site is better for research and another for a portfolio tool, so a mention of this would be good also.
Hopefully the information that this request produces may provide the seeds for a "sticky" on the subject!
Thanks, Speedee.

Hi speedee,
There are quite a few sites around to check on funds - I hold my mine with Hargreaves Lansdown and I like the layout they have to show how your funds are performing (however painful that it at present;) ). The site provides research tools, prices etc. and is a pretty easy place to start if you are not an expert:
www.h-l.co.uk
I also like Citywire (www.citywire.co.uk) for their tables of relative fund perfomance.
And I use Trustnet to plot my portfolio (www.trustnet.com).
Lots of others around, but a few ideas for starters."Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm" (Sir Winston Churchill)0 -

Not a direct answer to your question, but I have the following websites in my "Money" bookmarks. I visit these sites regularly: the active ones several times a day, and the less active ones a couple of times per week.
The Naked Trader (https://www.nakedtrader.co.uk) - general info on shares and what Robbie Burns is doing. I don't generally take his advice but it is VERY worthwhile knowing what he tips as buys and sells - his site is so popular you'll regularly see his buy recommendations cause a jump in a price.
ADVFN (https://www.advfn.com) - my primary live quoting platform. They have very good research tools but I find iii's charting tool to be easier to use.
Interactive Investor (https://www.iii.co.uk) - I use them for my share dealing, but the main site is very good for news & views as well as research tools.
IG Index (https://www.igindex.co.uk) - My spread bet providers, I usually only short with them. They have an excellent web platform for share analysis etc. Note that you'll need a credit check to open any kind of account with them, and you need the account to get access to the tools.
Investor's Chronicle (https://www.investorschronicle.co.uk) - the number one UK shares & markets magazine. I buy the magazine weekly so don't use the site too much.
MoneyAM (https://www.moneyam.com) - my backup site for quotes and news, assuming everything else dies...
LSE (https://www.londonstockexchange.com) - no more to be said!
Proactive Investors (https://www.proactiveinvestors.co.uk) - good source of news and views
Investopedia (https://www.investopedia.com) - if you don't know it, Investopedia does. Fantastic site.
Hope that helps.Mmmm, credit crunch. Tasty.0 -
