To be fair, the original email is partially true (or at least was until 2005) as there was a scam running from that number.

The stuff about a £15 connection fee is utter cobblers, though. It can't happen.

It really is worth spending 30 seconds on Google checking this stuff out before passing it on, though.

Well, thanks for the heads up OP but next time my advice to you is consult the global consciousness (Google) first, this will prevent you from being mocked by arrogant IT spoofs, unfortunately allot of people in the IT industry/consumer arena are naturally sharp and arrogant, so as an IT professional please accept my apologies on behalf of the "above" peers. ;)

Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

Yes, it's quite easy for us in IT support to get 'stroppy' on spam emails - we try our best to advise, but when you've had quite a number of calls in the problem logger system at work, you start to get a bit fed up and the tone changes to "why don't you just delete the damn thing, and let us get on with the serious problems!"

I dont think anyone has an issue with information that may be useful to others being posted, but information about a scam that was shut down three years ago, and is now doing the rounds as a chain mail?

A one minute search would have found that?

If i put a thread up 'Rumours that Lloyds are to buy out HBOS' would i not be ribbed?

I dont apologise for the "above" so please dont apologise on my behalf. Most of the above is factual and ok so we had a quick dig at the OP for posting information thats three years out of date, but seriously, does that make anyone 'arrogant'?

It was the attitude behind the replies, all you had to say was; "Dear OP, this information is a little out dated but thankyou anyway" sort of thing, no need to get stroppy!

Well could we be a little more tactful when somebody whom may not be as IT savvy as ourselves makes a comment or statement that is a little out-dated please? Education is the key here, knowledge is power.
