  • I know people are alot worse off than me - but should i not be worried about this?
  • Honey, you are worried now, take that as a lesson and never be as in debt as me: see my signature

I don't really regret it, I did a lot of fun stuff, but now is the time to pay it back. If you can stay out of debt then do it and good luck.

Well done for spotting this early on

I have a graduate overdraft as well, its £1500 though. You shouldn't need to worry, just make sure you keep on top of things and everything should be ok.

Stop worrying & just pay it. £200 one month & £300 the next month will clear your credit card by Christmas.

£100 a month after that will clear your loan by the due date & you should by then have a few hundred in the bank if you put the rest into a savings account.

Dont use your credit card again & that will stop the worry.

    Good Luck!

instead of saving, pay off your debts - result in 3 months
and dont spend onsomething you dont need - simple as
food you need, elec. you need, clothes you need,
chocolate yu dont, beer/wine you dont need
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

I wish my debt was only £1K. It probably was at one point, a long long time ago!

Get it paid off before it grows any bigger but don't beat yourself up about it - compared to a lot of people on this board £1,000 is chicken feed.
    :p
  • Are you serious?! Have you read any other threads on this board...! ;)

Just be thankful you have realised you don't like using credit cards so early on. You can easily pay this off in 3 months without really affecting your life at all, and ditch the credit card. I know it's all relative, but I have 6 cards, a loan and an overdraft to clear which will take me about 7 years... Stop now before you get to THAT stage!!!

Looking at your previous posts I can't understand your fears at all. A couple of weeks ago you stated on this board:

    My SOA is as follows:

    Income £1050
    Rent £120
    Gym £43
    Phone £45
    Petrol £75
    Card Repayments £50

Total left after bills - £717

This is each month - and i live at home and use my mums car - so thats why the bills are so small.

It seems to me that you could have your debt paid of in two months with money left over!!

On a board such as this where people are really panic-stricken over their debts (losing their homes, hardly able to feed themselves and their children) this is really rather trivial. Perhaps if you did without the sunshine holiday in January..........

I'm sorry if I appear harsh, but although you want to take charge of your money at an early stage, which is a good thing, you have posted before about this very small debt and got advice on what to do, this extra post seems like you're rubbing people's noses in it
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

If only I'd worried when I had just £1,000 of debt and that amount of disposable income!

You can easily pay the credit card back by Christmas and then the graduate account well within the interest-free period, even at £100 month. You may even be in a position to repay the whole lot by Christmas - if you've got money to save as well as make minimum payments, don't save for a couple of months, and just clear the debts!

It's good that you're worried as hopefully this will mean you won't get in the same situation as a lot of us on this forum. Read some of the diaries and other threads to appreciate how lucky you are to have a small debt that you can repay quickly.

  • You only need to worry about a debt, big or small, if you can't pay it, as you are not in that situation, just pay it, get rid of it and move on
