How much space for a 900mm wide cooker?

My kitchen is being fitted at the moment, and the plans show a 900mm wide space between the units for the cooker. So he has left 900mm of space exactly. I am worried that if the cooker is also the same size, it won't fit in. Surely a bit of space, even 0.5mm is needed at each side in order to get it in place?
Should the plans have specified that was the size of the cooker and not the space to be left? Are they different things? (in my head they are...)
The cooker isn't here yet. I did however go back to the shop today to check thesize and it is as advertised.
Worried!
(I have left a note for the kitchen fitter, he goes back to the house tomorrow morning)

Lally, why don't you google the cooker you are having and see if the exact dimensions are given by the manufacturer?
A Stoves Richmond 900 has a width of 89.6cm which would seem to be OK for a 90cm space, but if your cooker is exactly 90cm wide you could possibly have a problem.0 -
the standard is the gap is as given and the appliances are slightly smaller0

My 600mm cooker is actually 595mm.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0
