your avatar needs to be an animated gif file.
There are several programs available for making them. Unfortunately i can;t really help on how to do it but if you search for animated gifs then at least you'll on the right road.

I don't even know how to get one pasted onto my profile.:o
Can anyone give me some help too?
  • What file extension is your picture; .bmp, .jpg, .gif?

Could just be that the forum doesn't allow moving avatars, or your avatar is too big?

The forum automatically resizes avatars that are too big. If an animated avatar is too big, then when it is resized it only uses the first frame in the animation.

You need to resize the animated avatar yourself before you try to set it as your forum avatar here.

There are quite a few online tools that you can use to do it.

There is an explanation and help on resizing for MSE in this post:

Click User CP at the top left of the page and then in the column Setting & Options click on Edit Avatar and follow the instructions. Upload the picture of your choice from a avatar web site.

    Hope that helps :)
