ITV catch up - viewing problems

Hi,

When ever we try to watch something from ITV.com it doesn't play properly. The sound is absolutely fine but the pictures play in jumpy freeze frames (missing many frames) so it's like watching still photos.

Sometimes for a minute (or a little longer) it plays fine and the adverts & trailers they put in the middle are fine too.

We can watch 4OD completely fine and we can use BBC i player as long as we download the programme in advance so why not ITV?

ITV uses silverlight I think, whereas iplayer and 4od are flash-based. Silverlight is still teh suck, I'm afraid.

I tried watching ITV catch up for the first time on Friday and had a similar problem, I thought it might be a one off. I will not bother in future if this is a normal experience.

i am stunned if this is the same for all who use/try to use the online service. ITV promote it so heavily i cannot believe they are proud of it if its like this - i assumed we must have a glitch!

I have the exact same problem. ITV player is a nightmare.

BBC iPlayer and 4oD let you download so have no problems. I watched something on 5 that wouldn't let me download but it only froze once but ITV Player is rubbish and freezes the whole time sometimes with the sound continuing normally and sometimes even the sound freezes. It's too stressful to even attempt it these days!
