Bailiff charges for council tax arrears

Hi can anyone help me please. I have read that the charges a bailiff can add on to the council tax arrears amount are set and that some are illegal. does anyone know what charges are legal and illegal?
I have had a dept with the bailiffs for a while and had set up a monthly payment but due to my circumstances changing I have now with the advise from the CAB applied for an administration order and was told by the CAB not to pay anyone until the court had decided if the order could be completed as it would be unfair to all creditors concerned. I did not pay the bailiffs and they have now put a letter through my door saying that I have defaulted and charged me a default charge of 60 ( my total arrears are only 25 now coz I have paid most of it off already)
The information I have seen states that they can not charge me a default charge and that they can only charge certain amounts as it is to do with council tax. Am I right?
Any help would be grately appreciated, thank you.

    hi,

if they visit they can basically charge for this and that will be your £60.00 (van bailiff fee??). Did you tell them you were getting an admin order?

if so they should have put your account on hold.

Thanks for your reply, it doesnt really make sense to me coz The bailiff told me the charge was a default charge, they didnt come to remove goods just to hassle me for the money.
The CAB told me that the court would write to all my creditors so I didnt need to do anything about telling them, just to wait for the court to sort it out.
this is the last time i believe what the CAB tell me, I will try and sort things out on my own in future lol

the bailiff is just trying to make it sound offical! I worked for them for five years. He's what you call a 'first call' bailiff 9one without a van so cant take anything.

I would call them yourself and let them know. Also write to them and inform them (do it recorded) and then wait for the admin order. once you have this inform the again and get a letter from the coucil stating that they are withdrawing action. hope this helps and good luck, simone
