Can I claim back arrears charges with my Mortgage Provider?

Options
Firstly, apologies if this in the wrong forum.

Secondly, I have a mortgage with Mortgage Express (Aka Bradford and Bingley) and two years ago I experienced major financial hardship and could not meet my monthly repayments.

Any how, they demanded I negotiated a payment proposal by sending an agent around to my workplace which I had to pay £100 for the privalege, however, despite coming to an amicable decision on repayments, they continued to charge me £30 per month for twelve months whilst I was on the repayment proposal agreement.

Anyway, can these kind of charges be reclaimed or am I just hoping?

I appreciate any constructive help.

Chris.

I think in theory they could have repossessed your house after the first missed payment

That said people are claiming back bank charges all the time, although I think its because the charges themselves can't be justified nor were they very transparent...

You could try writing to them and wait for an official reply?

Some people have had success but there have been far more rejections and the lenders are more willing to fight the cases. Mainly as most package their charges as a service charge and not a penalty. Service and admin charges dont have the same justification requriements that penalty charges do.

That is why you dont see as much coverage of it on here and there have been posters who have tried but have ended up not only failing but also having to pay the costs of the lender.
