Quick (numpty) question...
When switching mortgage provider, is it possible for the remortgage to be made in joint names, if it's currently in a single name, without paying any extra?
My current Halifax mortgage is in my name only, but I'm going to remortgage elsewhere at the end of the year, and want the new mortgage to be in joint names (me and my partner) - is this possible, or do you have to pay to have the the extra name added?
Many thanks...

Cost you a couple of hundred in legal fees; the property deeds will have to be amended to match the mortgage.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Most lenders will pay for the standard legal work, if you want to remortgage to them, but you will need to pay for the additional costs to add the other person.I am a Mortgage adviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Thanks, that's what I feared
I knew it would cost to add partner to existing mortgage, just wondered if they could be added at same time as switching lender, to avoid the fees.
Ah well, cheers anyway.SKIPS STONES FOR FUDGE0
