Budget and Current Account Thread

Hi All

Firstly, this really is only about a handful of people on the budget and current account thread but I posted on there and in this forum (where I did receive some really great support from LoneRanger and others, thanks so so much) but unfortunately I really didn't have the same support in the other thread. My original post was with regards to my accounts that Barclays had closed without notice. The upshot of my debacle is that the accounts were closed incorrectly and it was a 'computer error'. There is now no problem with my accounts and for peace of mind, I have opened accounts without any problem with Natwest, Barclays have lost my business once and for all!

Unfortunately, the majority of posters in the Budget and Current Account thread have been morally critical and opinionated with statements such as 'The OP should learn to manage their account properly'.

I may not be the most active banking customer but the way I interpreted the comments made was as so unbelievably scathing and negative. I went there for advice and instead have been left feeling humiliated and embarrassed, which I thought was the exact opposite of what this site was supposed to be about.

Luckily I found this thread and another site whose forum members have been gracious and extremely helpful in their knowledge.

What a pity that my first post, when I was the most panicked, was so scathingly recieved by certain members of this community. They may have excellent finances, but there a lot of people out there who need help and assistance with fairly simple queries, not their vitriol.

It has completely put me off from contributing to this community again. Luckily my case was resolved and I can put my concerns to rest. I worry however for people who come to this site for reassurance and support as my experience has shown that is not what you can expect to recieve in certain threads on this site.

Interestingly, I saw this on the left hand side of the screen as I was writing this complaint:
QUOTE:
Pls be nice to all MoneySavers. There's no such thing as a stupid question, and even if you disagree courtesy helps.
END.

Why do people behave in this manner on such a forum and with such moral high ground? It is really unpleasant and truly lets down the people on here that are supportive and offer genuine, great and supportive advice.

Once again, a big thank you to those who did offer great advice.

K
