  • Barclaycard are to say the least idiots firstly when i transferred over they changed all my direct debit dates. Also they took a payment on the 08/12/08 rang them todaay 5 days later they said it hasnt been processed though it has left my account i would never use them again MS were great and its a pity they sold out to this bunch of cowboys. Also even though my there is a large difference between my outstanding balance and my credit limit my actual credit available is showing as nil, they tell me they are looking into it. Yeh right!!
  • I made the dreadful mistake of spending on a Virgin credit card I had shifted debt to.Once I realised what a HUGE mistake this was I applied to shift to Barclaycard, with the intention of cutting up the card the second it arrived. The application process started 6-7 weeks ago I've just phoned the dreadful call centre and been told my card has been cancelled because either I am a student OR I have a Barclaycard, I fall into neither of these categories. In order to have my utility bills etc sent back to me I have to write and ask them to send them back. Any advice as to what I can do to find out why this has happenend would be gratefully received. My Virgin repayments dont even cover the monthly interest. I have always had an excellent credit rating and this is the only dedt I have, and its only £6000!!!!!

Well in terms of what they have actually done, Barclaycard have been just fine for me- the full balance DD has been transferred and they have taken the right amounts on the right day.

The cashback has been credited and is being calculated in a marginally more generous way than MS did.

However information available on line has been a bit odd on occasion:

the amount of the next DD was wrong for a time - it appeared to be my unused credit available rather than the actual DD due

after my last DD a rather large 'pending transaction (debit) appeared and remained pending for a week before disappearing. It was the amount of the DD that had just been paid.

Not yet made up my mind whether to stay with them or not - I admit to a possibly irrational dislike of Barclays - but the current deal I am on is a fairly good one.

Lets see how they handle the next DD - due on 29 December, the first banking day after the holiday.
