its not a given just yet. im going there tomorrow evening for an event they run and chatting with the owner then about details etc. They didnt say if other applicants would be there so not sure just yet....

No payments today but I've found/discovered that all of the fixtures and fittings from my shop are going to be sold off for whatever we can get, so im considering purchasing some of them to sell off at a profit (hopefully) on ebay..... does that seem like a reasonable idea?

  • Morning all,

Have been a bit naughty and bought a treadmill from Argos (£244). Told OH it could be a birthday present and I would pay half towards it. It doesn't seem very MSE but I have been thinking about getting one for the last 4 months and it was a very good deal with great reviews. The good thing is that I transferred half the money to OH's account straight away so I don't owe him anything for it!

I hope I can get fit now and lose a stone with it.:T

HI CAFCgirl - hope all goes well tonight.

I'm also definitely losing my job soon - and even though I knew it was likely I am still upset._pale_

I've rung a few agencies and dusted off my CV so lets hope there is something good out there for me.

  • Hi SavingH,

So sorry to hear about your job. Hope you are feeling okay and sending you a big virtual hug. It is a very worrying time, I thought my job was safe but am jointly funded by 2 organisations and if the smaller one goes then my project would be scrapped. I hadn't thought about that until yesterday but it made me feel sick. If that happened my OH would have to give up college & we possibly would have to move back to Ireland. It took me ages to find this job in the first place as my area doesn't have a lot of work for me here.

Oh no Saving hun thats really pants..... I knew you always thought it might happen (same as I did with mine) but its still a slap in the face when it actually does....
Big hugs and best of british for finding something soon!

CMD - I am a bit nervous..... mostly about whether the money is going to be good, not so much nervous about the job, just what the terms are going to be like and Im nervous about trying to negotiate early release from my current job to get the new job.
My area managers line on it yesterday when I asked was that "any new employer would expect you to have to work a four week notice period before you could start" so I said yes but if it's a choice between me and one other person who can start tomorrow, then theyd pick the other person and I'd be stuck..... her only response to that was "well would you want to work for a company that would do that"..... ARGH the point is I need a secure job, not hanging around for this company to decide!

Will just have to see what happens tonight really. I've got a suspicion I'm not the only person theyve invited to attend tonight for the vacancy.... mostly because last night the admin lady phoned me and said "did I speak to you since you left the message on the answerphone about coming tomorrow as I couldnt remember who I'd spoken to"..... she had spoken to me about 20 minutes after I left the message.... so who knows on that one.... perhaps theres more than one vacancy but that wasnt mentionned....

Oh well... off to check the bank accounts now and see where we stand

Thanks for the positive wishes. I have spoken to about 3 agencies - need to talk to another 9 or so LOL. I've done an emergency budget and as long as OH keeps his job - we should be able to manage - if we learn to count pennies LOL - not my strongest point...

I'll have to do even more on my £10 a day challenge to try and create extra income...

It's hard to be optimistic today about getting my next job, I will feel much better once I get put forward for actual jobs and hopefully get interviews... I've loved this job though...

So sorry to hear about your job Savingholmes. Good luck with all the agencies. Its quite scary at the minute as nobody can be certain which companies are going to fail.

  • Savingholmes - so sorry to hear about your job, I hope you find something soon, must be very worrying.

CAFC - hope you got on/are getting on OK, fingers crossed for you.

Just paid £2 off Nationwide, looked up Loyds as that is the next statement due to come in to see what the minimum payment was so I could pay it now as I have the money in my account but it didn't say what the minimum payment was, couldn't even find out where to see previous statements - not a very good website really.
