Is it worth buying a fast boil kettle?

Just for info.

The pic is from the kenwood site although it is not clearly stated how they back up their claim of 35% saving of energy. I would have expected a comparison with another product either a rivals or one of their own range.

Yes, I've always boiled just the minimum needed, in fact before kettles came with those see through gauges on the side I used to fill it using the cups we'd be drinking from.

Well it's advertising isn't it - they just try to draw the consumer in by claiming it is energy saving and let our consciences do the rest .

Once again thanks for the explanations and for saving me the expense of buying a new kettle - I will stick with my cheap replacement that I initially just bought as a stop-gap.
