  • Thank you all for your replies! I decided against appealing.

I've made a new claim for jobseekers allowance and housing benefits (I can't tell you how demeaning this feels). I'm updating my CV and looking for work elsewhere.

dont feel demeaned in claiming benefits you are entitled to just because you have hit a bad patch in your life. You have paid into the system and its there to help you when you need it. Your as good as the rest of them.
I admire you for your fortitude, keep your chin up. You have decided not to appeal which has probably saved you a lot stress which you dont need at the momnet. put a full stop to it and i'm glad your moving on. Good luck in finding a job. up and at 'em

Is there something you can do as self employed? Window Cleaner, Typist, Odd Job Man, Cleaner..............so many different things. For 12 years I was self employed but then got offered a job with good money working for a large Blue Chip company. I worked there for 7 years. However over the years I became so unhappy with the job. I wasn't treated well (neither were the other staff)., Moral was awful. It actually sent me into depression. I left work (long story and not straight forward) and became self employed again. I work at home. Cup of tea when I like. Not told when I can go for a wee. Can see my kids after school. Summing up I would never work for anybody again.
