    This is what easyJet say

    Airport information

British passport holders require a tourist visa for entry into Turkey. It can be obtained upon arrival at Sabiha Gökçen International Airport, and costs £10/€15/$20 (payable in cash). To obtain an entry visa prior to departure, or for entry requirements for other nationalities, please contact the Consulate General for the Republic of Turkey.

easyJet flies to Sabiha Gokcen International Airport, which is located on the Anatolian shore of Istanbul at Pendik / Kurtkoy, at a distance of 40 km to Kadikoy, 12 km to Pendik and 50 km to Taksim.

Disabled toilets and lifts to the mezzanine level are available.

    By car

Sabiha Gokcen International Airport has a convenient connection (1.5 kms) to the TEM motorway.
    By taxi
Pre book your door-to-door airport transfers with easyJet’s partner Holiday Taxis. We cater for the Business and Leisure Traveller.
    By train
Pendik Train station is located 4 kms from the airport.
    By coach
An airport bus service, Havas, operates between Taksim Square in central Istanbul and the airport, and between the bus terminal and the airport on demand. The journey time is approximately 30 minutes.

This is what the airport website says http://www.sgairport.com/havaalani/eng/ulasim.asp

How do you get from the airport to Pendik train station, taxi or bus perhaps?

BTW easyJet are doing flights from LGW to SAW aswell as LTN. Turkish airlines http://www.thy.com/en-UK/index.aspx are going to fly from BHX and http://www.flypgs.com/EN/ from STN to SAW and of course BA/Turkish Airlines from LHR.

We flew Easyjet to Istanbul last New Year. Excellent. We pre booked a transfer and were met by a taxi direct to our hotel (the Erboy by the way, excellent budget hotel in a good position). Unfortunately I cant remember the name of the transfer firm but I found it by googling Istanbul transfers. We had a great time.
  • I am flying to Turkey with Easyjet and arriving at Sabiha Gökçen International . Could you please tell me the process I need to follow at to obtain a visa as I am a British passport holder and Easyjet state...Is it easy etc. Do you pay in £ and in cash etc.

I have not been to Istanbul but have been to Turkey many times. There will be a booth where you get your visa stamp (literally a sticky backed stamp) in exchange for your £10 note, be aware that it needs to be an English note as for some reason they often refuse Scottish notes for example.

The booth is likely to be separate from and will be before the passport control/ immigration booths.

The entry visa is valid for 3 months from first entry.

    HTH.
  • Many thanks, very useful.
  • I used this firm http://www.istanbulairportshuttle.com/ a couple of weeks ago (arranged the private transfer as the flight landed at a different time to the regular shuttle). They were recommended on the trip advisor forums and were very reliable (had a sign with name waiting for us and were early for the return to the airport). It was from Ataturk so a taxi would probably be cheaper but the prices seem reasonable from Sabiha Gokcen.
  • I have used IstanbulAirportShuttle twice (Sabiha Gockcen to old city). The proved to be excellent value and very reliable.
