I'd never use a main dealer, no need to with The European Block Exemption Regulation. You could try www.prestigecarservicing.com next time and save some money. Hope you get a good outcome from your letter.
I just checked the price for an oil service for my car on here to find they are charging £12 more than a BMW main dealer charged me recently ....

Pays well to shop around and probably more importantly, to have someone recommend someone. Word of mouth and reputation is one of the best ways to find a good garage.

Never ever be loyal to a car dealer.

Thtas why i asked the OP to name the dealer.

If I bought a rubbish product (like I have done with Virgin Atlantic), I would name them and let others make up their own mind

I am sure that if the OP doesn't get this resolved, he may very well name the dealer, but he has his reasons as to why he doesn't want to do that.

Personally - re your grouch - I've only ever had fantastic experiences with Virgin Atlantic and I have been lucky enough to fly alot with them. Sorry you had a bad experience.

I think you are being too kind - bit of a softie!

Good luck - keep us informed.
No news from the dealer yet, but my wife today tried to use the screen washer - just 8 weeks after the annual service now - but it was empty. It was supposed to have been done in the service - just something else they failed/ forgot to do but claimed they did by ticking the box.

that could just be how often you use it though.
Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?

You've not checked your screenwash in 8 weeks?

Are all your lights still working?
  • I used to work in a head office for a group of car dealers - i'm not sure if I should name them or not - but I can recall a number of complaints coming in of similar situations - one car had been in for a service in a garage in Wales and within a short period of time the brake pads were on fire!! Believe me, if you cc the letter to the manufacturer and the local press you get a much more satisfactory response!
:beer:Proudly paying as little as possible for stuff since birth:beer:

I don't check my screenwash - I wait for the light to come on the dash and then top it up.

I don't know anyone that checks their screenwash.... lights yes, screenwash no.

Up to this week - I checked and toped ours up every other week, in that time the car has done upto 800 miles so it's a fair chance that it'd be low as the car lived on the motorway, takes a minute, screenwash & kettle.

Gone are the days of press -> no water -> "oh I forgot to mention that"

In 8 weeks, I'd expect the washer bottle to be empty, but then I'm used to cars with small bottles and no warning lights.
