Disability Rights

My friend works for the NHS, she had a stroke and had to retrain in a different role.
Over the last year or so her workload has more than doubled and she is off work with stress. To expect a disabled worker to take on her workload is unfeasible. She is expected back at work next month but with the same workload (and catch up of what she's missed) is just setting her up for a fall.
Is there anything such as a disability rights advisor or someone who could help represent her>
Her union don't seem interested.
Thanks in advance.

I f your friend is getting no help from her union rep it might be worth moving up the union food chain and speaking to someone else at her union, might be an idea to talk with her human rescources dept see what they can do to help they being inside the nhs should be clued up on disability issues0 -
you used to be able to go to the drc (disability rights commission) but they have amalgamated all vulnerable groups now under the umbrella of
http://www.equalityhumanrights.com/en/yourrights/equalityanddiscrimination/Disability/Pages/Introduction.aspx
equality and human rights commission.
you can read the info re. disability there and they have a helpline(different numbers for different geographical areas i'm afraid):

i have found them very informative and helpful in the past.0 -
Many thanks, especially for the links. I'll pass them on and hopefully she'll get the support she needs.
Thanks again!

I was in a similar postion with my illness MS I had quiet a physicall job and because of illness I was no longer able to do it
I was off work I went to human rescoures dept they got an independent doc in to access me
he decided i could only now do office work,Human resource made IMO tentive enquires around the factory ,with no joy
so after 2 years off work I was finally paid off,,My union rep in house and full time official were a complete waste of time and space, and did abosolutley nothing for me
It seems that disability law states tht if reasonable adjustments can b made to help u this should b done,,BuT They do not need to offer u a new job sorry to b so down beat about this but I think it is down to the employer and what they decide to do ,,,and if it is cheaper to pay people off then tht is the option they take:(0
