When to book a flight cheaply

Hi there

I have some accommodation booked for a week's holiday in France next year for myself, my husband and two kids. I will need to book some flights, but not sure how to do this as cheaply as possible. Is it better to book as early as poss, or wait for late (discounted) deals - risky for us as not many fly our route.

I can't book now as the carriers don't yet have booking for next May - when do they release tickets for then?

Ta muchly!

You've kind of answered a part of your question yourself, the fact that the route you want to take is'nt that well served means the best idea would be to grab the flights when you can.

No one can tell you the when your flights will be cheapest as the prices will fluctuate with demand, however consider the expense of getting somewhere if you miss out on the occasional flight.

I would agree with the bear, as the route you want to fly on isn't served by many airlines book them while you can. If you are happy to pay the price you can get at the moment then book.

As the route isn't well served then there is probably more chance that the longer you leave it the higher the price will go but there is no guarantee.

  • I would really encourage to flight in advance if you are flying on Traditional airline. If the route is served by a low cost company it might be worth it to wait for an offer.

Compare prices between provided (travel agencies and airline website) might also help to save so money. I suggest this travel site - http://www.trabber.co.uk

Finally, try to find nearby airport to your destination.

    Good luck!

If it is end of May Bank holiday and half term, then book them when they go on sale, demand is good so they are unlikely to go on special offer.

i would agree to get them early as well because of half term and bank holidays at the start and end of may.

if its ryanair you are using then they will no doubt have a blackout period on the peak dates in may anyway for those real cheap deals
