what makes me smile about these serial bad news posters is that they get "Thanked" continuosly as if people are thanking for telling them bad news.

i've seen other post by people with "positive" comments and they've just got slammed or don't get "Thanked" at all and are ignored. it feels like people enjoy the negativity and the bad news.

by the way everyone is allowed and welcome to Thank who they like, they're free to do what they wish.

it's not a dig at anyone in particular but just a general observation.

I would have a dig as I find it mad, the best people on here are the people who are prepared to listen to both sides (you know who you all are;) )
The people who thank bad news must for some reason be fearfull of good news. Like it is going to wreck their plan in some way.

By all means thank who you like but at least try to think what you are thanking!

Agree with Chucky 100%. I think people looking for massive price drops, stock markets in freefall sound like they are using this for their own ends. I dont know about others but I get the impression a number are looking to buy their first property but this sort of thinking is dangerous. What if they dont have a job so therefore cannot get a mortgage. Why do they think that the downturn will not affect them. It will affect us ALL.

Be careful what you wish for.....

I am a positive person and some of these doom mongers - well could you imagine being married to one!

Here's an interesting list of the biggest daily drops in the FTSE.

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/table/2008/sep/19/ftse100.worst.days

In the top 12, 6 of them have been this year.

In the biggest increases, there has only been 1 from 2008 although it is 2nd.

the biggest increases list i can see has 3 in the top 12 in 2008, including #1 and #2.

I'm sorry you claim to be a positive person yet you have posted all negativity here.

    Negative thoughts:
What if they dont have a job so therefore cannot get a mortgage
I dont know about others but I get the impression a number are looking to buy their first property but this sort of thinking is dangerous.

Why do you think on the negative front? Why don't you think positively here?

    1. What joe public thinks isn't going to change anything in the current financial market
    2. We all can wish what we want and it is not going to change anything. Some may wish house prices should crash by 50% and some may wish house prices should go up by 50%. Should they be careful what they wish for? Things doesn't happen just because we wish! The current economic condition we are in is due to recklessness on many fronts over the last 5-7 years. It didn't had anything to do with wish!

I'm sorry but there are few different kinds of ppl in this forums:

    1. Who wants HPC so they can get onto the market
    2. Who bought at the peak of the market and worried any bad news discussed is having a negative effect on their property so brand anyone who even wants to discuss about current economic climate as doom-mongers!
    3. Who has got a relative or family member directly linked to housing market and any thought of house price correction is a big shock. Any bad news is to undermine the current housing market.

When are people going to understand....You can't talk up or talk down the market. So regardless of all negative or bad news it is not going to change anything. I have been called a Troll because I posted few articles about the current economy.

Jesus christ! Could you imagine being married to one!

Yeah I missed that. Just saw the one in bold (hence 1). No idea why they highlighted that one and not the others.

Bold is for just this month.

edit: actually, looks like rises are bold this month only, drops bold for all of 2008. That's a bit misleading!!!
