Have you collected your chickens yet mum of 4?

:jWe've just had a phone call to say there's an allotment available if we want it:j
It's supposed to be pretty rough but it's only 3 miles away so we should be able to get there often enough to pummel it into shape:D.
My version of your planting plan is really going to come into its own now!

    Yes :j :j :j :j

I collected them last week. We've been so busy trying to build the extra run space. It hasn't helped that it's been so cold.

    We collected 6 hens
    Peppa - light sussex
    Molly - Light Sussex
Lola - silver sussex, already seems to be the scatty one
Dora - Goldline, she's the top hen and very bosy had three eggs already
    Doris - Black rock
Daisy - Amber lee she's already had lots of cuddles. Sadlly bottom of the pecking order.

They love the cube. They quite happily spend time in it during the day, something my other hens never did. Maybe wooden coups don't feel as cosy?

Couldn't believe that we had the first egg on Wednesday, she's laying every other day.

Banana's are a huge it, cabbage not so great but the comedy starts when we give them pasta.

They seem to be really happy in the run we've hung some cd's, a cabbage and there are some branches dotted around. Filled with 3inches of woodchip. We haven't let them in the garden yet. As they are so happy, I now realise that it is ok to leave them in the run and juist let them in the garden when we are outside.
    Kind Regards
    Maz

sorry forgot to say well done on the allotment.

I would take it as you'll never know when another will come along. Remember if it's really over grown you should get a discount for the first year.
You can check by visiting your councils website.

Let us know when you see it.
    Kind Regards

    I don't think we'll bother asking for a discount as it's only £10 per year anyway.:D
(How old do you have to be to rent an allotment? DS5 (the 16 yr old) would love to have one of his own.)

Do chickens like CDs? (Visions of the girls getting on down:rotfl:). Presumably it's like budgies looking at their reflections?

Dancing hens :rotfl: Yes, it's like a mirror.

I believe that the min age is in fact 16. Once all my children are at school I could manage another plot and I'll just put that in my husbands name. I don't pay for my plot now as I work for the site,(cheap labour at £26 a year), the site chairman has three plots.
