Kaupthing Edge Fixed Rate Bond Query
[Deleted User]

Hi all,
Given the recent good news that the interest rates of our Kaupthing edge bonds will be honoured by ING, I was wondering if anyone knew whether I could add to my 3 year bond to make the most of this rate? I opened the bond a few weeks ago and am hoping to transfer more money in rather than open an account elsewhere, but am aware that some fixed rate bonds are unable to be added to once they've been opened. Can anyone shed some light?
Thank you!

You can only pay in an initial payment into a bond, once it's open you cannot add to it. In normal circumstances you could open another bond and add the funds with the same rate, as long as the accumulative total is not greater than the maximum the bank specify, but since you can't open a new Kaupthing bond, you can't do anything.

OK thanks, was worried I had missed something, like they had reduced the interest rate on my fixed bond."How could I have been so mistaken as to trust the experts" - John F Kennedy 19620
