How to stop those bugs in flour?

I used to have this problem and found it kept recurring until I emptied the cupboards, vacuumed them, washed them out with bleach and started using airtight containers. I also started microwaving the flour before putting it into the airtight containers and I haven't seen any since.
Since leaving work, I find I get through flour a lot quicker than I used to and think this probably helps as well. Some people hear voices, some see invisible people. Others have no imagination whatsoever

maybe worth splitting the bag up, and storing in smaller contrainers?Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)0 -
I agree with the people that have said the problem seems to be the cupboard. I had a recurring problem with this for a while, even though all my flour is stored in containers rather than just in the paper bags. The bugs kept coming back until I took everything out of the cupboard and thoroughly cleaned and disinfected it, which got rid of them for good.
Mine was a freestanding cupboard, if your flour is stored in a fitted kitchen unit, you may perhaps need to empty out and clean the whole run.0 -
Morriosons have those air tight containers on offer at mo, those ones that have flaps on side, they are half price, various sizes, we bought 2 on Wednesday0

Also oats aswell - we used to get them regularly when posted in Zimbabwe. Found that seling the top of the bag with a peg or one of those clip things you get for bags and then store in an airtight container... I hope this helps?!

I remember seeing my nannes flour crawling with weevils when I was a kid. However Iv had flour in the cupboards for years sometimes, and never seen these bugs. I must admit, im reluctant to check, as id rather not know!! And Im a veggie!!
I wonder if they do something to the flour now, heat it or something, to kill the eggs?
