Can you exchange stamps for cash?

I've recently discovered I have a lot of first day covers which were given to me as a kid by grandparents. I've checked on ebay, and they're worth bob all.
So it made me wonder, since the stamps have a monetary value on them (each pack has five stamps in them, adding up to over a quid and I have about 40) is there any way to exchange them back into money?
Or do I just have to send a lot of christmas cards this year?

Nope - a frayed knot. Just use them for sending letters and cards instead of buying new stamps0

You might be better off looking to sell them via an actual stamp collectors' site rather than through eBay. A quick Google search for "stamp collectors" brings up a number of sites. I clicked on the first link that came up (below) and they are selling a number of First Day Covers... On the first page alone prices vary from £5 – £40. I guess it depends on how rare or in demand yours are.

Hope that helps

Thanks for that, I shall have a look now - I don't think they'll be worth an awful lot they're only from 90s, although it scares me now that that's 18 years ago.
I did however find out that while the Post Office won't buy them back, Royal Mail "may in certain circumstances" but they want 15% commission and there's form filling involved!0 -
