guys why not consider the dell inspiron 1300 for £350, its a better laptop with a dvd writer, faster processor and is wireless enabled.
  • Is this the link for the Dell Inspiron 1300 ? http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/inspn_1300?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&s=dhs
According to this link it's £399 and it says you can make your own music c.d.s. (no mention of d.v.d.s)

I've just tried to buy mine and it says that it is out of stock for delivery and store pick-up. I really wanted one as I have confirmation of the internet getting installed but with no computer.

Help me out with this one please!

Is there any particular reason why you need a laptop? You are going to get a much faster desktop PC for that price. If you are going to be using it for gaming you are better off getting a desktop - any laptop that is going to cope with the rigors of things like the Sims 2 which is pretty low in its requirements are going to be getting on for £1k and you would need to keep upgrading. Generally desktops (except for bargain basement where you can't upgrade) have more capacity to upgrade.
  • I go along with raeble on this....no way will you get much ( if any ) performance from a laptop with that spec if you try and play with any recent game...on-line or otherwise.
Don't get me wrong...nice price for a basic laptop i.e. internet/ homework etc...but MOST DEFINITELY NOT a games machine!!
