Halifax refusing BT to Egg Money

Options
Apologies if this is something discussed for donkeys years by you experienced stoozers... I did a search but couldn't find anything.

I just tried to make a BT from Egg Money to Halifax, but Halifax gives me the messages '' we currently don't accept BTs from this financial institution".
It actually concerned a genuine BT rather than a stooze... no probs, I can pay off the balance without the transfer, but I had looked at stoozing a bit -prob wouldn't have had the guts anyway-, but that route seems closed now.

I have not maxed out my BT allowance with Halifax.

So
1. Is this a temporary blib?
2. Is this an attempt to stop stoozing (I have made a succesful transfer to another cc company)?
3. Panic, Horror etc, is Egg on the edge?

Did you do it online? Why not get the phone and speak to a CSA and ask why? Good luck.

Thanks Bisoy, but I am afraid my dislike of call centres, and dealing with money over the phone, is greater than my need for a BT... (although the folks at Halifax have been perfectly nice whenever I couldn't avoid phoning).

Maybe curiousity will get the better of me...

It doesn't seem to be a blib, tried a few times more, and the same message pops up every time.

Has always been the case for online BTs from egg money to Halifax.
The Halifax online system has never recognised the egg money number range.

The only way is to call, fairly painless, Ive done it several times and I too intensley dislike call centres.

The same is true of Egg Card (Visa) and the MBNA family of cards, which is what leads many people to believe it's an anti-stoozing measure, as speculated by Sam37 in the OP.
  • I ran into exactly the same problem yesterday...
Nigel - when you say 'fairly painless'...do you mean I have to be economical with the truth on the telephone - this is a straightforward stooze via Egg Money, so there isnt an existing balance...

if you have time to offer advice/experience its gratefully received

    cheers

No problem arranging the BT over the phone. The process is straightforward as far as I remember.
When I said "fairly painless" I was just referring to having to call and go through the inevitable phone menus before reaching a person.
