I've been in London for a few days visiting my son and had a nightmare getting through central London on Sunday to cross the river at Vauxhall Bridge (roads closed for a fun run).
The next time I need to get to Brixton Road what is the best way from A1 or M1 to miss the city??
The satnav was set to avoid tolls but probably because it was a Sunday (no tolls) it still directed through central London.
Any help please??

I'd suggest round the M25, in on the M4 then A205 and A3.
I'd also do it early hours of the morning or late at night.
What about using the train and underground?
I kind of look at anything inside the M25 as a no go zone for a car unless I can travel at night.

Many thanks, I will have a look at that.
The tube is no good as I am taking a car full of stuff to his house.
Agree, the centre is no good for a car - we were gridlocked on Sunday.

  • I think you will end up wasting more time and money if you try to avoid the centre. You'll just have to take your chances, Brixton is really quite central. Just check before you go to see if there are any road closures in the area.
