i have been ripped off by somone on ebay but what did ebay do not refund me when i asked for help they just sent me standard emails saying read our safe harbour pages and that reply took 2weeks.
all ebay want is thier fees same with paypal customer support does not exist.
the story can be found on http://www.bbc.co.uk/watchdog/reports/consumer/consumer_20051206_2.shtml
that is true all ebay want is the fees,.. i got a ipod with out a harddrive in it and ebay didnt do nothing about it and paypal didnt do jack Crap about it,.. the guy even listed it in the Harddrive section and said on the listing 15gd ipod,. and too top it off the seller then sold a imac too some one and scamed them 300£ (which was about the right price for that spec imac- so no stupid move in buying that) lord knows if htey got that back,..then the user name was "no longer a registered user" and paypal still didnt refund my money and in the paypal dispute i never got too see what the seller was saying,.. then when the dispute was closed at paypals liking they wouldnt reply too me,..
at the end of the day ur going to get scammed sooner or later,.. just pay by CC via paypal if u MUST! but i use nochex now,.. anyways if u need a refund just go str8 too the bank and do a crawlback on ur CC dont bother with paypal
and dont pay with any other method if u dont trust the seller,..
dont just look at the feedback read in too the feedback see what the seller buyed or sold if its some thing for less then 5£ then i would'nt class it as "feedback" and if they got a good amount of feedback in a short space of time i would avoid them,..
and if watchdog did 1 Whole show on ppl that got scammed on ebay they would have 1000s of phone calls but of course they would only have seclected a few,..0 -

I have got "ripped off" by eBay as you put it, for about £150, but I managed to get it back in quick time and I still buy off eBay with confidence.0

Ebay is a fantastic idea - I have sold and bought various items on it over the last 4 years and have had hardly any trouble (a few non-payers!!).
I do however think that Ebay need to monitor the site more closely because there is a lot of fraud openly avaliable on there. For example, copy DVD's/Music/Software etc. etc.
A proper helpline is needed.0 -

It's not Ebay doing the ripping off it's people advertising. If someone sold you something dodgy via a local paper classified ad you wouldn't say it's the paper ripping you off.
I've been on Ebay for 3 years with 1500 transactions, 650 100% feedback. I've had quite a few different problems all of which have been resolved reasonably quickly and with no loss to me. Three times I've had to get money off Paypal with no problems at all.
If I buy anything for more than 20 quid I want a seller with 100% feedback and at least 50 points. Otherwise I will ask them for a phone number and speak to them, no phone number then no bid.
It's a great service if you keep your wits about you, research every deal and remember you never get anything for nothing in this world.Debt in 1993: £35,000 | Debt in 2006: £0 | Assets in 2006: £2.3m and counting. :j

Ebay is has its flaws but then so do many more things in life. I have a young daughter and rheumatoid arthritis. If it wasn't for ebay I would be a lot worse off than I am now.Ebay~ A wretched hive of scum and villainy.0
