Buy it Now Option?

Hi, I've just been introduced to this fab site and I am in need of help with my listings on ebay.
MSE gave me the inspiration to go through my house and sell unwanted stuff on ebay to make a bit of spare cash -have never done this before.
I have received questions from two potential buyers looking for buy it now prices. I didn't offer this as an option in the original isting and have no idea how to do it now.
Any advice would be much appreciated! :xmastree:

what they really mean is, would you agree to sell it now for a particular price. any time i've done that in the past i have sent them a paypal invoice describing the item and at the agreed price.
Personally, if you're not entirely comfortable with the workings of ebay just yet, i'd tell them politely you'd rather let the auction run to completion...0 -
Thank you for your speedy reply!
I'm sorry if I'm being dim but . . .
If I agree to this what reason do I give to ebay for ending the auction early? Is it against any of their terms and conditions (I can't see that it is?) but I'm guessing that the payment doesn't go through the normal ebay procedure if I provide this option?
Thanks in advance - I knew I was in the right place!

You can say that you have sold it elsewhere. Please remember if you do decide to sell outside Ebay you do not get the seller protection from them so if you send anything make sure you send it recorded or some type of trackable post purely for the protection so that the buyer can't say you didnt send item.
Good Luck.

Ending an auction early and selling the item to a bidder that contacted you through ebay is against their terms and conditions. Should the buyer turn nasty and turn you in you would probably get a warning from ebay, do it more than once and you probably would get suspended.
However, assuming you have no bids on the item you can safely add a BIN option and then email the potential buyer to say you have added a BIN should he want to buy immediately. He can then BIN the item and that gives you the protection of having dealt on ebay and doesn't break any rules.
However, unless you are happy that the price offered to you is fair, I would let the auction run as the buyer may have realised you have a valuable item and doesn't want to run the risk of losing out to snipe bids at the end.

As a matter of personal principle, I wouldn't change a listing to offer BIN if there were other watchers, who may or may not be planning to bid, and if you have watchers already the item might make more at auction, but as you say, there's no rule against adding BIN after an auction has started. Though some buyers may be asking for BIN in an attempt to get the item cheaper, others may have different reasons, e.g. if you were selling a party dress, someone may want to buy it immediately for a particular party.0
