Hi All, first of all i received my bill for electricity for my business in august, (which should have arrived in July) as the bill date says, it came on the same day the reminder for payment came, so they must have forgot to send the first one. I must admit that i was late in paying this bill, i spoke to someone at npower business, and told them i would be paying in a couple of weeks time as the business was strapped for cash as we had a couple of lean months, she said no problem.
Anyway in the meantime a gentleman came to read the meter and at the same time asked, if i was in and when would i be paying the bill, as i wasnt there, one of the lads said i was sorting it out. Well i paid the bill, and then got the september bill for £238 which after struggling to pay the last one i decided to wait till i got the reminder, it came, but it was £368. Due to the fact there was a £130 CHARGE for the gent coming out to see me!
i will pay this bill later on today, but i want to claim it back, i contacted consumer direct/ofgem over this, as from the 1st of october they are now dealing with small business, so we will wait and see what happens, i mean i could understand say a thirty or forty quid charge as fair enough i was late paying, but come on £130 is a bit of a rip off.what gets me is i was outside the 90 days in writing clause, when the first bill came, on which it werent added, then it was added to the reminder on top of the bill because they knew i couldnt change suppliers for a further 12 month.
