WTC and CTC

I am very confused over the rules on this and was wondering if anyone could be of help to me please.

I see that the award that I have is based on last years income, I started a new job on 2nd April and increased my hours to over 30 a week, which I told them about.
What concerns me is that the income that they have based the award on is 2007/8, this income was £2500 less than what I am now getting in the new job I started on 2nd April.
I am very worried that I will end up owing them lots of money at the end of this tax year, as when I did an assemment on their online how much could you get calculater it was over a hundred pounds less than what I actualy do get a month.
Please can anyone help me with this.

  • you can increase your income by up to £25000 a year before it affects your award, unless you have already reduced your income this year (which i doubt you have done)
the award will be based on yout 07/08 income until the end of the tax year, when it will be based on your 08/09 income which will include the increase in your wages, and your tax credits will go down.
As long as you dont call the NTC helpline and reduce your income, you shouldnt be overpaid (unless you dont inform of a change which would cause different payments etc etc)
the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j
