Scart plug to 2 scart

I have just bought a scart plug to 2 scart for my DVD player as my TV has got only two scarts and I need three, one for sky. The problem is when I connect the video and the DVD, the video does not work properly, the pictures are not very good when I use my portable TV but they work OK in the main TV downstairs. I bought it cheap at QS, and I find they are more expensive at Woolworths or Argos but the basic one looks the same. Does anybody know whether they are safe to use? The company seems genuine Connect-it and their electronic parts are much cheaper, it makes me wonder. Also does anybody know whether it is safe to stack my DVD on top of my sky box as there is spare shelf to put it in the cabinet? Thanks.

TV has two Scarts. Connect DVD player directly to the TV via a single scart lead.
Connect TV, Sky box, Video as follows: Video---Sky Box----TV. Note that your Sky box has two scart connections for this purpose.
It is not good practice to put another unit on top of a Sky box so as to resrict its ventilation. Put the Sky box on top of the DVD, if possible use something to space them apart a bit like sticky rubber feet.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

I have tried connecting the video to the scart copnnection of the sky box, but it does not work. At the moment, the scart plug to 2 scart seems to be working. As it is I have the dvd on top of the sky box now. I guess, I will change it and put the sky box on top. I have put a place mat between. Just wondering what other members do if the shelf is limited in the TV cabinet. Thanks for your help.
